I can pick you up from your hotel/cruise ship or an agreed location in Dublin and bring you to my home county of Wicklow, about half an hour's drive from the city centre. A typical tour with me goes like this...

Photo stop in Enniskerry village, used recently by Disney as the location for 'Disenchanted'! You will see why it was chosen - it is one of the prettiest villages in Ireland. Then we visit Powerscourt Gardens, voted No 3 in the world by National Geographic. Here we can tour the gardens which are stunning, summer or winter and chat with the gardeners, and admire the specimen trees and statuary. Or we could do a tour of Powerscourt Distillery...

Afterwards we will tour Wicklow Mountains National Park, visiting a former army barracks and the German Military Cemetery close by. Then we drive through the fabulous scenery that lies less than 12 miles from the city centre, to see where turf was cut for fuel and to admire the many lakes in this area. This area has been used as a location for many famous movies and series, including Excalibur, Braveheart, PS I love you and many more. Currently Valhalla is being filmed in many locations in Wicklow, including my brother's farm!

We will make a stop at the renowned 'Guinness Lake', pictured above. Lough Tay, as it is correctly known, lies in a stunning private estate in the heart of the National Park and the deep, dark peaty waters remind people of a pint of the dark stuff! There is a fascinating history attached to this estate, and as a local, I will give you the lowdown!

Glendalough - the valley of the two lakes is stunning! St Kevin founded a monastery here in the 6th century and it was a major centre of learning for many centuries. We can tour the churches and the famous round tower before taking a stroll up to see the two lakes in this deep beautiful valley.

If you had an interest in farming, and if there was something interesting happening on the family farm, a visit could be incorporated into the day. Or I could organise a private sheepdog demonstration in the last farming valley in County Dublin. This is a private tour and we can do whatever you want, within reason! Of course, if you wanted a hike as part of the tour, I would be delighted to suggest a range of routes for you to chose from.
